How every question is checked
An exam question with a wrong number in it costs you a point on the day. This page sets out how Retake Plan questions are written, checked and corrected.
§ 1 Original, written to the published outlines
Every question is written for Retake Plan, to the content outlines the exam providers publish, in the exam's format. We don't use or sell real exam questions — those are confidential.
Each question is filed under a section and a subtopic of the outline. That is how the diagnostic scores you by section, and how drills send you back to the subtopics you miss.
§ 2 All four options explained
Every question comes with a worked explanation: why the right answer is right and why the other three are wrong. The explanation states the rule, so it still helps when the exam words the question differently.
§ 3 State law checked against the statute
State-law questions are checked against the text of the law itself — for example Texas Insurance Code ch. 1702, Fla. Stat. 626.99, Cal. Ins. Code 10113.71 and N.Y. Ins. Law § 2132.
Where a rule has changed recently, the question names the version it tests — for example, the Texas rule on promotional items in effect since September 1, 2025.
§ 4 High-risk questions verified
We flagged the 141 questions where a wrong number, deadline or state rule would cost you a point, verified each one against primary sources and fixed the errors we found.
§ 5 Corrections, not excuses
Found a mistake? Email support@retakeplan.com. We check it against the source and fix it for everyone.
- We check the question against the primary source: the statute, the regulation or the published outline.
- If the question or its explanation is wrong, we correct it for every user. The fix appears the next time the question bank loads.
- We write back to tell you what we changed.
What the 70% line means
The diagnostic marks a 70% line because that is the pass mark for the Texas Life & Health exam. Pass marks vary by state — check your candidate handbook.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or reproduce real exam questions.
- We don't promise a pass. Nobody honestly can.
- We don't publish reviews we haven't been given permission to publish, and we don't pay for them.
